Ingredients

  • 8 oz Pretzel Sticks or Mini Pretzels
  • 12 oz Vegan Chocolate Chips
  • 12 g (1 TBS) Shortening
  • 36 g (3 TBS) Rainbow Nonpareils

Instructions

  1. *Please note that you need to have a sheet of waxed paper and all of your ingredients prepped and ready to go before you start making the recipe as the melted chocolate will harden pretty quickly. You do not need to rush, but you do not want to be opening bags after the chocolate is tempered.

  2. To make the pretzel mix, start by placing a two-foot long piece of waxed paper on your work surface, then add the pretzels to a colander and shake them gently to remove the excess salt and any pretzel crumbs.
  3. Add the shortening and 10 oz of the chocolate chips to a large microwave-safe bowl. Chop up the remaining 2 oz of chocolate chips, then follow the directions for tempering chocolate in my post on how to temper chocolate.

  4. Add the pretzels to the tempered chocolate, then stir until all the pretzels are evenly coated.

  5. Spread the mixture out on the sheet of waxed paper, then immediately sprinkle the nonpareils evenly over the pretzels.

  6. Allow the chocolate to cool and fully harden before moving to the next step.

  7. Once the chocolate is completely hardened, break the pretzel mix into pieces.

  8. Transfer to an airtight container and store at room temperature.
