New York City – Part 7

I spent the first few days after surgery lying in bed recuperating. I did get a couple of blog posts written, but I was in a lot of pain and the medications I was on made it really hard to stay awake! (See Part 1 for the background info, and Part 3 for the day of surgery.)

I was getting bored being stuck in bed on my ventilator, so my mom and I decided to do another vegan ice cream taste test! She found So Delicious Peanut Butter Zig Zag and Breyer’s Vanilla Peanut Butter Swirl. She also got Hershey’s Simply 5 Chocolate Syrup:

Here is the Peanut Butter Zig Zag opened and scooped:

Here are the nutrition facts and ingredients:

I love seeing these certifications!

The ice cream is really creamy and has a nice chocolate flavor. I also really like the chocolate flakes and the peanut butter bits. The only problem was that there weren’t enough of the peanut butter bits for my taste. I added a spoonful of peanut butter to mine, and it was great! So, I would buy it again, and just add extra peanut butter. Here is the Breyer’s opened and scooped:

This one has the perfect amount of peanut butter and the vanilla base is creamy and delicious! I will definitely buy this one again! (Note: you do need to let it warm up just a little before scooping it, or the texture is a bit icey.) Here are the ingredients and nutrition facts:

We added some chocolate syrup:

The Hershey’s chocolate syrup is pretty good, but is not as chocolatey nor as thick as my homemade syrup. I would buy it again if I were away from home and couldn’t make my own, but my chocolate syrup really is better! Here are the Hershey’s ingredients and nutrition facts:

The hotel had fresh blackberries with their free breakfast every morning, and I wondered how the peanut butter swirl would be with blackberries. The vanilla base goes really well with the fruit and so does the peanut butter swirl. The combination is amazing, and the carton didn’t last long! I think strawberries, apricots, cherries, raspberries, bananas, or bananas + vegan marshmallow fluff, etc would all be great combinations!

That’s all for now! Be sure to check back soon for my final post from New York!

I have to stay on my vent 24/7 for the next few weeks, but I have a bunch of recipes already photographed and ready to share with you. Next up are Vegan Fried Chick’n & Pan Gravy, Potato Salad, and Apple Cobbler!
