Vegan & Gluten Free Shopping at Aldi

I love shopping at Aldi, and I always start there before going to other stores. Unless another store has a significant sale, Aldi has the best prices in my town. I took a bunch of photos last time I was there so I could show you all the great vegan and gluten free options they have! (If you aren’t gluten free, there are even more great products available.)

There are lots of vegan chip options, in both regular and organic versions:

I really like the Casa Mamita salsa, and it costs less per ounce than the giant bottles at Sam’s Club!

Not all of the nuts and seeds are gluten free, so be sure to read the labels carefully and look for a note below the ingredients to see if the product were manufactured or packaged on shared equipment with wheat. The sunflower seeds and dried apricots are both really good and do not have any shared equipment warnings for wheat. I also really like some of the trail mix varieties!

There are quite a few jams, jellies, and preserves to choose from:

I like to get their unsweetened applesauce cups to use in baking. It’s also available in a big jar, but I don’t use much at a time so prefer the little cups. They also have a variety of flavors and other fruit cups as well:

There are lots of pickle options, and I like all of them that we have tried so far. They are colored without artificial dyes which I like too. Aldi also has a few salad dressings that are both vegan and gluten free, and they have all been good.

The mustard, Dijon mustard, hot sauce, Sriracha, and organic ketchup are all inexpensive and very good!

There are a variety of plant milks available too! I have only tried the soy milk, and I use it to make oatmeal (half water & half soy milk) and for baking. I prefer the flavor of Silk for drinking, but the Aldi brand is fine for all other uses and is only $2.19 per half gallon!

I also love the high pulp orange juice:

Aldi has a variety of spices and extracts at very good prices:

I haven’t tried the cocoa yet, but will update once I do.

I love their cherry pie filling and it is very reasonably priced. It tastes great and doesn’t have any artificial coloring!

The prunes, raisins, and nuts for baking are great and cost less than at other grocery stores. I do prefer to get walnuts at Sam’s Club because they are even less there at $5 per pound, but I get them at Aldi when I can’t get into town.

Zulka sugar is bone char free and I use it in all of my baking. I also use it to make my own vegan powdered sugar, light brown sugar, and dark brown sugars!

Aldi has the best price on organic apple juice, and this is what I use with the Zulka sugar to make my vegan honee:

There are lots of great options for fresh produce at Aldi and the prices are great!

I like their taco shells and fat-free refried beans:

The organic canned beans are great and cost less than regular beans at other stores:

I also really like their canned tomatoes!

I also get sauerkraut, canned fruit, and other canned vegetables here:

The frozen vegetables are all very good too!

Finally, I really like their jasmine rice and it is a pretty good price:

On the day I took these photos, I spent $53.04 and got the following:

10 lbs potatoes

3 lbs gala apples

3 lbs yellow onions

2 lbs broccoli crowns

1 lb fresh spinach

1 bag celery

2 bags green onions

1 bunch bananas

6 mangos

1 avocado

2 lbs carrots

1 cauliflower

6 oz dried apricots

8 oz cocoa powder

10 oz potato chips

24 oz organic ketchup

32 oz dill pickle chips

16 oz banana peppers

24 oz sauerkraut

4 cans organic black beans

28 oz diced tomatoes

1 can pineapple slices

18 oz apricot preserves

half gallon soy milk

12 oz frozen corn

12 oz frozen green beans

5 lbs Jasmine rice

Not a bad food haul for $53.04! If you haven’t tried shopping at Aldi yet, I hope you’ll give them a try! If you do shop at Aldi, and have a favorite item that I missed, please comment below and let me know!

    1. I usually buy bulk spices at Sam’s Club so I haven’t tried a lot from Aldi. The ones I have gotten don’t have a wheat warning. I’ll be sure to check every label before buying any new ones though!

  1. I’m new to your site and wanted to say how much I love it. I’m new on the Wiccan path and you have wonderful information! I love how you’ve set up the blog. I’m a vegan too and I love Aldi! I can get most of the basics there.

I love hearing from you! Please leave a comment!
